So I have started looking at packaging more closely - always asking myself if the packaging is recyclable. What I can't figure out is why companies want to hide (or make it difficult) to figure out whether or not the package is recyclable. Lets take a bag of mini carrots as an example. Almost hidden, on the back side, is a small symbol indicating that the packaging is a #4 plastic, which is easily recycled at the grocery store. I had to search for it. What if I had the slightest issue with my vision? The symbol would not be readable. Given that climate change is barring down on us, why are companies trying to keep this information a secret?I don't think that they have anything to fear from making the recycle symbol more visible. Come on corporate America - let's be bold and have easily read markings on our packaging!
Why hide it?
