There is currently a backlash over plastic waste and it is long overdue. The backlash is forcing makers of top household brands rethink their packaging. 2019 might just be the tipping point because China, importer of 45% of the world's plastic trash for decades, has banned imports of the low-grade and single-use plastic that consumer companies love. Now rich nations have to deal with their own waste and companies will have to pay the full cost of disposing of packaging. Brands that don't work on repackaging risk their reputations due to the fact that consumer activism is growing.
