So two scientists were recently awarded $1.2M for their work on converting plastic to edible protein. One scientist. Dr. Lu, was quoted as saying "Plastic is a mixture of different chemical elements including carbon, oxygen, hydogen...from a chemical perspective, food is also composed of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and other elements. At the most basic level, our research is the conversation of the chemical elements from a plastic form to a food form". So many questions come to mind like, aren't other things, like fertilizer, also composed of these elements? Do I want to eat that? Will this become part of Beyond Meat?
