Combs, Flamingos, Foster Grant, Tupperware!

Yesterday I visited Leominster, MA and discovered a host of "plastic" related facts! Who knew that Leominster is known as the "Pioneer Plastics City"? While Leominster started off being known as "Comb City", it became known as "Pioneer Plastics City" due to its pioneering use of plastic production methods to make combs and other products. In addition to plastic combs, many other familiar products were created in Leominster - those cute pink flamingo yard ornaments, foster grant sun glasses and Tupperware! So, while Massachusetts loves to lead the way, there are certain topics that we wish that they hadn't - like gerrymandering (which was created in Massachusetts) and the widespread use of plastics. Hopefully yet another Massachusetts institution will help save us from our current plastic crisis - The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
